The three jobs
What the Plumber Will Propose
- Sewer line and drain cleaningOne slow drain or all of them. A cable, a camera and a straight answer about where the stoppage is.
- Water heater repair and replacementA tank in the garage that leaks, rumbles or has gone cold, and the choice between repairing and replacing it.
- Slab leak and pipe repairWater going somewhere it should not under the house. Finding it first, then choosing between a spot repair and rerouting.
Septic House or Sewer House?
The same symptom means different things depending on which you have. A gurgling toilet in a house on a district’s sewer points at the lateral or the main; in a house on septic it may be a full tank or a failing field, and snaking the drain will not fix that. The septic-or-sewer page helps you tell, and the signs page lists what a failing septic system looks like.
Not sure which pipe it is?
Call and describe it. The pro tells you whether to start at the tank or the plumbing.
